Sorry. I guess I should've been more clear. If I gave the impression that I typed the question with one hand while the other plugged in the soldering iron, I apologize.

I've managed to rebuild a few tube units from the ground up without electrocution but this is a different gig. I know that. That's why I'm asking the question.

I was looking for a better explanation about ground potentials, DC circuits, etc.

Anybody got a better explanation? Anyone out there willing to speak like an adult to another?

C'mon, let's give it a whirl. Ground potential. How's a solid state circuit like that in a cd player grounded? What's the deal with the chassis not being tied to AC ground? Does the circuit depend on the neutral AC leg?
