One of the best amps I've recently built is a chipamp based on the LM3886 called the MyRef (designed by Mauro Penasa). Fairly easy for a DIY SS amp. Not really a gainclone specifically but from that lineage. Visit Twistedpairaudio.com to get some Rev. C boards and parts kits. There is a massive thread on DIYAudio on this amp running a few hundred pages. A very hot design from last year and very well throught of. I love mine.
