Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

Im putting together a new system, it will be PC based around my new Apple Powerbook. I have a pair of Klipsch RF-5's that I plan on using, they are quite sensitive and dont require more than about 10 watts, which has gotten me interested in some of the "chip amp" kits. Anyone out there built any of these? How do the gainclone amps compare to the tripath based amps?? Which would be easier for someone who is relatively new to building kits?? I did build a Bottlehead Foreplay for my brother a few years back without much trouble and have done some modds to various cd/dvd players, but I havent built any amps before.
Who makes some good kits that I can check out?? Im also considering building a DIY DAC, maybe one of the DIY NON-OS kits which dont look to complicated. Any advice or links to companies who make tripath or gainclone amp kits??Thanks
