Dear Al,
Thanks for the swift and thorough reply. Some answers:
First: I do have some first-reflection treatment(foam)on the side walls.
Second: I do have commercial ceramic cable lifters, but they are placed somewhat hap-hazardly. I will try your suggestion to put in more and lift the cables higher.
Third: I am using Analysis Plus power cords throughout. I believe the gauge is pretty good, but perhaps I should experiment with different ones. Are you suggesting that the place to start is with the amps rather than the preamp? Also, perhaps I should take out the resistors entirely and put some blankets behind the tweeters as you did once. Hmmm.
Fourth: I have Herbie's Audio Labs tube dampers on all the input tubes, both in the preamp and in the two amps.
Fifth: I have dedicated lines, PS Audio outlet boxes everywhere, and Audio Prism "Quiet Lines" in strategic places.
Finally: I thought you experimented with Power Wraps or something. Didn't they work out?
Really finally: I believe I mentioned before that a friend of mine (Roy Johnson of Green Mountain Audio) thinks the problem is phase-related. Have you considered this?
