Hi Steve,

Given that what U want to do only involves "just 34 pads, no traces", for this prototype - for which you want to use a good "board material" - why don'tcha buy some 1/8" teflon sheet?

It's a good dielectric, it's easy to saw and drill, stiff enough and won't melt with the solder temperatures. You just use the teflon to locate the components and then ptp wiring underneath! I did this for some PSes I made up earlier this year - worked really well. :-))
