Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ.

My DIY worked fine.

I originally bought some A-M systems .008 inch teflon but this is just too small. So I used the .015 inch and this is perfect for an RB 250/350.

I had to disassemble the arm to get the wires through. Make sure you use an easy out on the bearing retainers, do not use a screw driver. Rega epoxies these retainers in, and you will ruin the retainer or the bearings trying to get them out.

The easy out removed the retainers very simply and easily.

I totally agree you should twist each pair of wires and not all 4. My wiring took about an hour and tested my patience several times. But all went well finally. Getting the wires from the base into the arm was the real difficulty.

I am using 6 ft lengths so I can go from cartridge to preamp without any other connections. I use Home Grown Audio's solid silver tipped RCA's which I really love. The sound is quite amazing running pure silver from cartridge to preamp. It is full, lush, with great air and space around the instruments and very good spacial characteristics for your sound stage.

Go for the .015/.019 silver wire. I paid 51.00 for the wire, some shipping and 35.96 for the two RCAs. With drain shield, teflon air tubes from base to preamp and pretty braid I paid a total of 85 dollars.

I am happy to help in any way I can!

Have fun with your project! Mine has turned out very nicely. The sound just blows away my very nice multiplayer with CD's. And it is no where near "close." The vinyl sounds so good, the cd's sound like the performance is in the next room over!!!

Cheers.
