i removed the glass and replaced it with some wire mesh (for better air circulation and because we have childrens about) from the hardware store. i also removed the back of the cabinet from behind the component side. next i built a flexy rack with 3/4" poles. i cut 1" holes in the bottom of the cabinet so the poles can go all the way through to the floor. i have a 1/4" clearence on either side of the rack... there's no contact with the entertainment center at all.
this has worked out very well for me, sonicly and asthetically... and we remain married after 14 years.
