NWAF and equipment cabinet

202.67.91.28

OK, here goes. New wife (who I love dearly), new home, mostly her furniture. It seems I must place my equipment (Thorens TD150 SME, Rega Planet 2000, Rotel pre and main, B&W speakers) behind glass doors inside a large, heavy piece of furniture which contains a TV. Deep breath. Having accepted this proposition (the things we do for love!) I am faced with the dilemma of how to make the best of this. The existing shelves are sitting on those tiny shelf holders which fit into holes at the sides. I am able to modify the arrangement within these areas (which are either side of the TV space). My inclination is to replace the shelves with cut-down Ikea Lack shelves and to somehow sit them on small spikes at the sides (I am an advocate of the light and rigid school - oh the pain!) Floor is timber over concrete slab. Any suggestions? I refuse to believe that I am the only one here who has faced this - there must be some collective wisdom out there!
