Chris,Thanks for the reply! I realize the alcove is far from convient, but based on the way the loft is laid out, I'm limited as far as attractive options go. I'll try moving the couch forward to the begining of the alcove when I get home tonight to see if that helps the problem.
While pannels in the alcove would not be a problem at all and might even look moderately attractive, my concern is more for the front of the room. I can't really do anything with the corners, and treating the ceiling will likely yeild visually displeasing results.
The problems with the room i feel are that.
1. Imaging is not up to snuff and I KNOW these speakers have done better2. Soundstage is wide but not deep (no layering).
3. System sounds a ever so slightly thin. Not unpleasantly so, but I feel some better room boundaries might really enforce the sound.
4. Midbass is really lean--lacks real punch, also bass extension is poor (I know these speakers are capable of more!).
The system does some things really well too.
1. Trebble performance has no business being this good in such a setup (the speakers were pretty spendy, but the electronics are not)
2. Midrange is pretty decent and detailed.
3. Microdynamics are decent--could be a little better (I think this is holding me back a touch emotionally).
Thanks again Chris and anyone else!
