Yeah, a stepup-transformer is definitly on my wishlist, so is a volume transformer..Ah, ok. Personally I haven't been able to get excited enough about TVCs to give them a try. In my experience with transformers, a given transformer really works best with a given load. With a TVC, you've effectively got a couple dozen or so different transformers, yet in the typical TVC application, they all see the exact same load. Which means that most all of the others aren't being loaded as ideally.
I dunno, it just seems to me that if the TVC's not being used as a stand-alone device and doesn't need to drive a significant length of cable, the TVC's source impedance reduction at lower volume settings doesn't seem to be of a whole lot of benefit, particularly if you're driving the grid of a tube.
But that's just me. :)
as of now the input transformer is wired 1:2.Oh, well if the 1:2 of your current input trannie already gives you sufficient voltage gain, and your tube stage is already a CF, then it looks to me like you're already there. No?
The main purpose of the transformer on the input is to isolate negative grid bias from the line, since I use adjustable bias by a lithium cell and a multiturn pot per channel so that I don't need a cathode resistor (cathode is at ground).Ah, gotcha.
The triode IS in fact strapped as CF. Loaded by a pimm CCS (not using mu output), the CF cap tied to anode ofcourse removes DC, and the autoformer is used as you would use a parafeed OPT, tied between the CF cap and cathode (wich is at ground..).Tubes aren't my strong point so forgive the question here, but why do you need the autoformer? Are you using it as a step-down because the CF doesn't have the juice to drive the load directly?
Horns are round wooden tractrix, made by a local woodworker.Sweet!
You probably noticed there is no crossover in the mentioned parts... well.. it isn't..No shit? Are you running that critter full range? Or are you taking advantage of the CF cap that you need to have anyway and using that to set a high pass cutoff point?
