So batting rammed in there results in a "lean" sound. Is that lean as in dry/neutral/detailed as opposed to warm/romantic or are you using "lean" in in a different sense? I know different people have different sound preferences.If I don't want my system to sound lean in that way, maybe I would add a touch of mass through kitty litter or something else?
