I prefer the light and rigid approach but when I bought my Contour 1.3 SEs, I bought a pair of Dynaudio's Master Stands with them. These are an older Dyn stand which are quite heavy. Everything's sealed so I can't see what's inside each of the 4 narrow pipes that connect the bases and platforms but there definitely is something quite heavy and dead inside, and there's no movement on shaking. Concrete?Anyway, the 1.3 SEs work brilliantly on them. My feeling is that Dynaudio actually voice their monitors on high mass stands so you may not get the intended sound on a lighter stand. That may be a good thing for some people so I'm not saying don't go for a light stand, but I think you may definitely go high mass with no fears with a Dyn monitor.
