Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ.

reality testing

I'm not sure there is really such a thing, but I'm not an electrician nor that level of audiophile wizard. I have to ask you if you've asked yourself where the law of diminishing returns comes in here: extra expensive but possibly not fully effective dimmer vs. dedicated AC lines. Lots of the guys here claim you can start out with a very useful dedicated line in the $200 range (haven't checked that myself), so if you buy a dimmer in the $100 range that doesn't really do the job, what makes the most sense?

If most of your rooms are tied together on one line, as in my house, any dimmers anywhere plus all the motors (refrig) plus all the flourescent ballasts are cumulatively screwing up your sound! Since I've played with building power filtering and AC cording, I"m very very convinced of the value of cleaning your power on even modest system sound. The above are some of the problems you will face in the typical household, and better minds here on AA say you get the most bang for your buck by dedicating a line, rather than aftermarket add-ons.
