Re: Can you put this shelf atop another rack?

What exactly are you asking?

The Monaco is a modular rack which consists of a frame and, at the moment, 2 different options for feet (spikes or Apex) and 2 different options for shelves (standard acrylic or the Formula composite shelf). The shelves are designed to be used on the Grand Prix Audio frames but can be obtained in custom sizes to replace shelves in other racks. You'd probably do better sourcing acrylic shelves from a local plastics dealer.

The shelves aren't intended to be used sitting on directly on the floor. I can't think of any shelf that is. If you're thinking of something for use as an amp stand, GPA make a Monaco amp stand - a single layer version of the Monaco frame with your choice of feet and shelves.

If you were going to use a Monaco shelf in another rack, you'd probably be best off using it to replace an existing shelf. You could isolate if from the existing rack frame using sorbothane dampers as is done with the Monaco. How things would sound would depend in part on the existing rack frame. There's more to isolation than simply the choice of shelf material and the Monaco takes a systems approach where feet, rack and shelves all contribute to the overall performance.

Take a look at Grand Prix Audio's web site (www.grandprixaudio.com) for information on their design approach, the basic Monaco system and the Formula shelf and Apex feet options.
