Tweaky: The effect of cryo on the Cyberhome picture quality was really dramatic. Before cryo, the picture was very grainy (and not grainy in a good "film quality" way), washed out and almost "unfocused". It was pretty horrible compared to the Toshiba I was using. Immediately following cryo, the picture on the Cyberhome really sharpened up. It was as if someone focused a picture that was out of focus. Colors seemed to brighten up a bit as well but not to the extent of the Toshiba. I'm not absolutely sure whether that is a positive or negative indicator on the Cyberhome vs. the Toshiba. The Toshiba was/is much more vivid (in color terms) than the Cyberhome, but in an almost artificial, overtly colorized kind of way. The cryoed Cyberhome seems a little more natural than the cryoed Toshiba and you could probably prefer one over the other depending on the type of film you were watching; ie. on highly stylized films with heavy emphasis on bight/vivid colors the Toshiba may be the preferred choice, but with more realistic fare the Cyberhome might be preferred, or even vice versa depending on what you look for in a picture.

But there is no question that cryo took the Cyberhome to another level picture wise. My wife, who can generally care less about audio/video stuff was totally underwelmed by the Cyberhome before it was done, commenting on how lousy the picture was, and couldn't believe how much the picture quality improved after it had been cryoed.

Hope this helps.
