I admit to building the CAT 5 speaker cables. I assume you are talking the 27 pair braid ones? They are very labor intensive to make. I would never make them again...real pain in the fingers. Don't make them any longer than you have too. I soldered my spades on. You might wish to consider using a few inches of regular speaker cable on the end as the cable is rather stiff and tends to break connections.It's an okay cable but not worth the time and effort IMHO. I also made the Belden 89259 speaker cables. Much faster and easier to make. I should tell you that I don't use either one anymore and instead use some 14 gauge normal speaker wire from Radio Shack. However I do still use the 89259 interconnects. With solid state amps cable rolling did a little something. With my tube amps it doesn't seem to matter much.
