I have move from an all out assault on every possible vibration viscoelastic militant posture to a (highly) selective damper with more emphasis on resonance refinement. A strange example of this is my Tivoli radio which is permanantly on to local jazz stations. There was a set of Combak footers sitting around, heavy chunks of brass with ebony end pieces. I put the Tivoli up on these almost as a joke and have had them there for about 2 months. When the conditions are right like listening at 5 A.M. and the ambient RF fog is at a minimum, the sound can take on a brilliant, lively, totally absorbing sound... even the shitty rock stations can be momentarily interesting... too much damping can make the sound compressed, the high freqs kind of cardboardy. If possible, the less steel the better, especially thin sheets of it.
