Caps have gotten a lot better. Used to be, buy computer grade caps and bypass with a film cap. But the switching power supply market has demanded better caps. Panasonic has done well for me. Rubycon makes some nice caps. Elna and Nichon do as well but you need to buy higher up the product line. As Jim mentions ESR is important. Ripple current and slew rate are too. A 105C cap will last longer. Siemens Sikorel used to be king IMHO (check the vols/uSecs on those caps!). But boy did you have to pay. These days I'm a tube freak and try to use motor run or film caps and avoid electrolytic as much as possible.
