You need to know what voltages are present in the circuit (schematic or measurements) not what he components are rated at.Illustrative tale: I used to work in an electronics factory where we used lots of different circuits at different voltages from 5v to 600v.
To avoid stocking too many parts we standardised on 1N4007 (which are 1000v 1amp diodes, for all applications!
So if someone later on looked at a 12V rectifier circuit and saw there was a 1000v diode in there, they may well wonder why ....
1N4001 to 1N4007 are the same parts but selected when tested for their breakdown voltage rating from 100V to 1000V, AFAIR.
