closer to an anti-static than a resonance modifier

honestly, no idea what it is or isn't, except that it isn't a varnish or lacquer for sure. It goes on wet and oily and slowly polymerizes to sort of waxy. The correct coat is incrdibly thin, maybe a 10-15 microns, if that. I've only done one full blast coating with it in my Evo4. That sounded radically better in the hi freqs, the white sizzle that gives solid state its charm vanished...you could say that the relaxation factor increased, in this sense it did sound like good modern tube (fast, neutral, open, spacious), never turned ripe, fruity, golden tan, bronze butterscotch, honey mocha crunch, rum raisin, cognac, single malt scotch or any of the other old timey tube flava, you know if you've been there...round, midrangy, overcooked...
OTOH, from descriptions I've read (never backed up with personal experience that can only be gained from ownership, even with a few quicky auditions at the dealer's) and bits of exposure, even the renowned Boulder line has trouble fully developing complex high freq structures, I think one reviewer of the Wotan, some Ungodli number of 6550 ouptut tubes, spoke of how cymbals didn't have the simultaneous ring and steam of a real cymbal, they went click-tink, so having said all of that when the Evo 4 got juiced with Musicoat, although this was after a bunch of other tweaks too... I mean, each tweak was done, listened to for 7-10 days, then another was done, things were sounding not so terrible at that point, the Musicoat gave the cymbals and many of the high overtones the freedom from the distracting shizzle dizzle, I was thinking, yeah... this sounds like a real Zildjian cymbal, not a sophisticated algorithm in a digital music box, and it hold up through every style of music I can throw at it, often there is so much new information the is unearthed that familiar works sound like different compositions altogether... at this juncture I am bugging curious to know what it does on x-overs..
