Crystal dampening and and a tweak to my tweet's

Couple great tweaks as of late for me:

1) Dampening the crystal in my CDP
2) Changing the diaphragms/domes of my tweeter's

At first I thought I didn't hear anything after I tried the crystal dampening tweak appling some blu tac to the crystals in my CDP. I don't now if I became more in tune with what had changed over a couple days time and after going through a number of CD's, but someting positive did seem to come out of it. The mid to lower bass seems to be better defined now, tighter and quicker. I'm hearing more detail, more micro detail and hearing more air in recordings, though this might be more attributed to the other tweak I did. That feeling of the speakers having all but disappeared has been greatly elevated. There is seemingly less sibliance as well as more clarity to voices and instruments which is giving way to better defined dimension and a better defined soundstage.

But at the same time, which may be equally the reason for me hearing these nice improvements, I changed out the diaphragms of my tweeters. The definition in the treble was staggering after putting these new puppies on. At first the treble seemed a bit bright and sibilant but over the past couple weeks they have really smoothed out. The amount of detail and dynamics, as well as the extension in the treble, has increased tremendously. If you have speakers that are a few years old you might consider changing out the diaphragms, it will bring the treble back to life in a big way (at least it did in my case).

Happy listening,
Sean H
