Today I measured a 20mh C-M choke with a signal gen and a 'scope and a 1k load. No matter how I hooked it up, were I placed the scope, or what freq. I used, could I see any increase in voltage. I did see that if you drove only one side of the choke and put the scope across the other side there was an induced voltage on it, but when I connected the choke up normaly it cound not be measured. If a surge did come in on one side and did not go thru the other side were did it go? It had to go somewere. If the choke is feeding the pri side of a transformer, the only other place it could go is thru the capacitance leakage of the transformer to the secondary or the laminations.
