Hi Mark,This is an interesting question, and one that I was hoping you'd scare up some good advice. I'm not planning on opening up my TV, but I am playing with the coupling caps in the DVD player. To date, I hadn't thought about the different frequency requirements demanded by video.
Still, I found that HFQ electrolytics are still a big step up from the cheap electrolytics I assume are used for coupling in most DVD players. More interestingly, I've gotten interesting results from parallelling a film and foil cap with the electrolytic -- I'm trying a .22uf PPFX right now, and after taking a while to break in the picture has taken on this extremely smooth, textured look. The closest analogy would be to describe it as looking at a glossy photograph. One might even describe the difference as that between looking at a film vs DVD image. Maybe there is more "interior" detail (i.e. the visual equivalent of a less grainy sound)?
Anyways, I'm going to experiment with some other caps, but so far staying with those available for audio use. If you come up with something else, please let up know.
