Re: In my opinion.

Æ,

In the first case, I was not aware of any sort of contest between John K and myself. We exchanged ideas and thoughts on the series vs. parallel type crossovers, and we both stated our opinions based on our experiences. I would not take the posts that resulted as having any sort of winner, OR allowing anyone to reach some sort of ironclad conclusions either.

In the second case, I never stated that series corssover networks are the best, the only, or any other such thing, I merely pointed out some of their advantages. They also entail their own set of compromises, as do ALL crossover designs and approaches.

Third, I do not tend to argue where the situation honestly allows for other equally vaild options or approaches, what is the point?

In case you are laboring under a misconception, I am not just an EE, but I make my living designing pro loudspeaker systems, and do quite well at it. I am not only intimately familiar with every aspect of speaker design, but have made crossovers my specialty. I am aware of John K's high order transient correct design, and have read his white paper on it. Very impressive work, but as with all things, it entails several compromises, and still demands very good drivers in order to work well.
