Hi there,The specific DAC in the CD-38 needs a rather more intelligently designed Current to Voltage Stage than most DAC's, as the Output floats at about 2.5V DC....
I have something on the Drawingboard that I have neglected for a while for this exact DAC. This would be using the Cathode of a 6922 conncted to the DAC output, operating as "grounded grid" Amplifier followed by a Cathode Follower with a passive LC filter between Amp and Cathode Follower.
As for current Delivery, the LM6182 Op-Amp I recommend is inteneded to drive 100 Ohm at many MHz in Video Systems.... It has so much drive that it will happily drive a 50 Ohm backtermianted Cable at Audio with minimal Distortion. No simple Valve Buffer (or so called "Audio" Op-Amp) can match this kind of Drive ability.
This level of Drive is not really needed either, that is true, but It is comforting to know that there is a bit "reserve" in the system.
