Reason for the muting relay on the Tjoeb???

61.8.0.112

Hi
something no one ever mentioned about the tjoeb was the annoying click of the muting relay between songs. After many attemps at sound proofing I finally took the whole circuit off and the tube output section is now directly connected to the output sockets.
Ahh silence and there has not been a problem since. So my question is why is there a muting curcuit at all and should I quickley put it back in before my amp gets blown up by some nasty rogue voltage spike ??
AND
The only and Only other bother ive ever had with the Tjoeb is a lack of focus (compared to a cd67) Putting in fast rectifiers and higher value caps has helped a bit. But what realy bothers me is the 0.4 volt ripple voltage across the bur brown IV converting chip.
I don't know a lot about how it all works in there but surely a stable supply voltage would help a lot to get the chip working to its full potential?? As a quick experiment I put in a 12v regulater on the + and - supply lines. But if anthing this just constricted the sound to the point where it was unlistenable. Anyone have any ideas on the effects of the ripple on the chip ? and maybe how to fix it

Anyway they are all the downs. Otherwise I am quite content with the more full bodied sound of the Tjoeb and playing around with all those
nos tubes.
Thanks for any feedback. The Tjoeb doesn't get too much mention in this Asylum. Id love to know more about how it all works.
