This is a tweak that a lot of people are performing. When you are not using the digital out of a CDP you can terminate the output jack with a 75 ohm resistive load which internally benefits the digital section from unwanted reflections from an open, and non-used output. You can actually buy a terminator from Radio Shack or construct your own terminator with a 75 ohm resistor.
