Electrolytic caps have MUCH higher charge density, than other types. As a consequence, they can be made more compact. To fit an equivalent amount of capacitance in a chassis, which fitted with electros, would require an inordinately large chassis. Either that, or one must place the caps, some distance away. That will require long lengths of cables. It is these long cable, which will exhibit significant inductance, thus reducing the effectiveness of the capacitors.Victor said very well. I suggest you read his words, carefully. Strategically placed caps, can make a FAR more significant improvement, than either the amount of capacitance, or it's construction.
