Re: Scan-Speak speaker break-in question.

12.31.44.2

Alan, I'm using basically the same drivers in an MTM (I have the 9300 tweeter) and am fighting the same demons! Thorstens comments about the 8545 have never been encouraging and that troubles me because I regard his opinions as accurate and I'm stuck with these speakers for awhile. I have found some relief from upgrading electronics which I believe speaks to the "revealing" character of these speakers. I am using a version of the North Creek Music's Rhythem X-over which measures quite well and is crossed low enough to avoid the cone break-up (~ 1800 Hz). I am actually thinking about adding in a seperate mid (maybe dipole) to handle this issue. I can tell you that speaker cable and cdp upgrades made the biggest difference in the mid range quality. I'm also getting some relief from different amplifiers. Please post more details about your speakers, (arrangement, alignment, X-over, etc) and maybe we can get a little closer to blissland!

Steve
