Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

Hi inmates-I've got a Lovan pyramid rack, lead-filled. I'm using 1/2" custom glass shelves & a 3cm custom granite shelf for my V.a.C. triode tube amp. The amp footers have been replaced w/Vibrapods. Recently was playing around w/granite platform bases for my Silverline Sonatina speakers; regardless of decoupling devices, stock brass spikes, B.d.R.
cones or Vibrapods there was a brittle, metallic sound. Using just the Vibrapods on my low-pile carpet helped tremendously. After my sorry experiance w/the granite bases for my speakers I began wondering if the granite shelf under my amp, is introducing similar negative vibes in my system or what ? I've thought about using a Bright Star big rock under my amp & have experimented w/using a "Vibrapod Sandwich" between the amp's Vibrapod footers and the granite base but it seemed to soften things too much. Any ideas ?
Thanks in advance
Mike
