Sure. Those big theater speakers (A5, etc) were the antithesis of a nearfield design. Required lots of space for the dissimilar drivers to coalesce. My full range stats require none.

Likewise, I applaud those who attempt to identify which metrics are significant in terms of what we hear. And he's quick to observe that he doesn't have all the answers.
I have a number of Stereophile tests disks which I use to help assist speaker and trap placement for the most linear response in the bottom four octaves or so. You can find third octave plots of main and ht systems in my gallery. HT required use of parametric EQ with LFE channel to tame a nasty room mode and yet a null exists.
