"Pretty fast" is relative.If you mean measurable parameter shifts, these continue to occur with hi-fi home speakers for days. Based on my own considerable experience, you can hear things change (and usually improve) far beyond that readily measurable time period.
Do people get used to the sound of a particular speaker? Of course this happens to some extent, but I know it does not account for all of the changes that are heard, or that are measurable and occur. The easy way to see this is to go back to green speakers, and listen to them compared to a well broken-in set. After doing this kind of thing for over 25 years, it becomes pretty obvious.
Remember, I make my living voicing speakers, and am intimately familar with a large number of drivers, and how they sound, both green and broken-in.
