Depending on what you mean by punk, and that would make debates about whether Led Zep were rock or metal seem like a vicar's tea party by comparison, I would have thought you would have very much liked The Clash, pre-Heart Of Glass Blondie's take on pure pop, ermmm I think I am wandering into new wave if I mention Talking Heads (best band of their generation) Ian Dury And The Blockheads, The Buzzcocks (always sounded quite Jefferson airplane-ish when they sat back a bit a soundchecks to me), but there you go.
