The aftermath of punk with its (to misquote George Melly) revolt into style, which conveniently coincided with the availability of cheap(er) synths and samplers, was a time of easy experimentation and a lot of good music came through much of it forgotten now... Rip Rig And Panic, Maximum Joy, ABC, even Bow Wow Wow (check out I Want Candy used in Marie Antoinette) let alone the stuff that stuck... New Order just for one, and there are a lot of mixes, 12 inchers and so on due for re-evaluation.
The lessons learned from Disco and Reggae (well dub) helped turn synth pop into the dance music just in time for the second great love generation.
What about ON-U Sound?
