Danny has been a mainstay of British music for 40 years. At times you could have seen him with Tim Buckley (and I have a great story about them at a BBC filming - see below), John Martyn, a host of Jazzers in fact a host of everyone. One night he told me the story of spending the afternoon recording with The Incredible String Band (although what they were recording was a mystery) and then having to rush across London to do Congratulations for Cliff Richard. The BBC story.
Buckley and Thomson were to be recorded for a BC session. They turned up and the director asked if they could play a bit to set levels, etc and then take a break and they would do the session later. They plugged in, tuned up and set off just improvising out of the air for 45 minutes. As they packed up to leave, the director, his head spinning with what he thought was the single most amazing musical thing he had ever heard turned to the cameraman and said "We've got something very special there". To which the cameraman replied "Was I supposed to film it?".
