In 60s and early 70-s when rock was forbidden in Russia and real vinyl albums were not on sale anywhere, people were transmitting and exchanging music on tapes that were copies of copies of copies .... of somebody's actual original. Another popular method was to record from tape to a (IT IS NOT A JOKE) X-ray photo plate. Imagine Rolling stones or T-Rex on the x-ray of somebody's ribs. That was how it was called. On-the-ribs. Naturally, it sounded terrible to say the least. Thus mondegreens, as you call them, were widespread. One of them was Keen Baahbe Lomm (Can't buy me love) from Beatles which can be translated as "throw a big crowbar to a woman!..." Naturally, some older people would wonder what were those guys singing about...
