Inspired by LWR's post below about the new Leonard Cohen tribute recording I'm wondering if anyone has found tribute collections they think are really great? I do like the Hal Willner produced projects but most of these compilations leave me fairly cold. Usually the covering artists stick too close to the original version for my taste and as often as not don't measure up.
Although I'm eager to see the film I think the only thing I've heard off of the soundtrack is Rufus Wainwright's version of 'Everybody Knows' which I wasn't overly impressed with.
Which tribute disks do you really like and why?
