I have read more musician bios than I care to admit, and I've never liked the person more after reading about him. In almost every case, I've liked him a lot less. I expect this from the rock people, who I have absolutely no use for outside of their music. But I've had the same reaction to the jazz and classical musicians I've gotten to "know" better, and let's not even talk about rap stars. I lump musicians with professional athletes, another group of people I watch but don't want to know. There's just something about being fussed over all the time by sycophants that seems to make even good folks reprehensible. I dislike some more than others, but that's another list.
