The most I ever spent for one component is $1,500.00 for the first Sony DVDP-9000ES SACD player when it came out in December 2000. I had to sell a ton of LPs to afford it and got to be on a two-week waiting list!By contrast my Infinity Kappa 7 Reference speakers (original ones with 12 inch woofers) I got for half price $694.00 for the pair about 15 years ago when they were being discontinued.
I bought my Adcom GFA-255II 200 Watt power amp for $640.00 as a floor sample.
I got my AMC tube pre-amp for less than 1/2 price for $324.00 on eBay.
My Music Hall MMF-5 was $595.04 from Elusive Disc with 10% off coupon.
My Toshiba SD-5700 DVD-Audio player was 109.00 on eBay.
My Nakamich CR-1A Cassette Deck was $39.50 from the Salvation Army Thrift store.
My 25-inch flat screen TV was $188.92 from Wal-Mart.
My Monster Cable Power Line 2 was $94.00 for 8-foot pair.
My three AudioQuest Turquoise interconnects were $25.00 each.
So my current 2 channel Audio-Video system cost me $2,759.82 for everything! I can play LP, Cassette, CD, HDCD, DVD-Audio and DVD-Video. Less than the cost of one of your CD players.
All I can say is it must be nice to be rich!
Happy listening,
Teresa
