I have a JBL test disk with violin in two identical pieces of music. One piece filtered at 16Khz and up and one not filtered. The difference is stunning.
The violin piece without the filter has more soundstage and woody resonance, while the other piece is just plain and dry. The best explaination I can muster.
Not much above 16Khz on vinyl? I think not. And to confuse this topic even further, I would think my 40 something ears, are a little lean in the HF extremes.Brian
