Perhaps you may want to consider the possibility that you may not have all the elements to know for shure the DAC1 is the cultprit. In fact, I personally would say most people who think a neutral DAC like the Benchmark (or another neutral DAC) is edgy very likely has a problem in his system. This type of leaness is quite common. Of course there's plenty of less accurate DACs that can create an illusion of balance. As you say, this is just my opinion. Good luck camping!
