No, the CDM 9/44 is not a direct replacement for the CDM9 Pro. A search of the archives told me the motor is completely different and they can't be substituted. My Micromega Duo 2.1 refused to spin discs about a year ago and as the CDM 9 pro is unavailable, I thought I was doomed. Some research showed, however...the laser mechanism of the 9/44 is a direct swap for the laser in the 9 pro. I bought a new 9/44 mechanism and then left if for 6 months before summoning up the nerve to do it. It was so easy to do it was laughable. There are two screws (torq head) holding in the swing arm of the laser. You undo those, and the arm and laser come out with the ribbon cable attached. Simply swap them over and retighten the two screws. Thats it! 5 minutes and back in business. I've just bought another 2 cdm 9/44's just in case. Of course, if the motor dies you're well and truly screwed but I'm back in business and loving it.

Good luck
John
