I've found that using just the software EQ in Foobar2000 can have a much more precise effect on the sound I hear then trying to find a brighter set of interconnects or a power cord that is supposed to improve bass a bit. With a digital signal (particularly at the source stage, before it has even been converted to s/pdif) equalization suddenly makes a lot of sense.
