Re: WMP EQ

My USB based dac playing CD's via WMP not only blows away the DEQ in any configuration, but blows away every prior cd playback system I've ever owned - those include Naim CD5, Quad 99 CD-Pre, Njoe Super Tjoeb, Musical Fidelity Small X DAC / tube buffer / independent power supply, Rega Planet 2000, Cyrus CD6, and those are just the ones I'd owned in the 2-3 years prior to getting the Burwen Bobcat that I can happen to recall at the moment. In fairness though, none of the former had the advantage of room eq - but my former 25x40 room didn't really need it.

Of course, I go by how much I enjoy music - sometimes I wonder if anyone on the PC Audio asylum actually listens to music to judge. All this talk about jitter, kmixer, asio, foobar plugins, etc - ever so rarely in the hundreds of posts does someone describe the sonic effects of any of these evils - instead, just a lot of theory about bits!

In August it will be 1 year since I got the Bobcat, and that will be the first year in which my system has not changed in a long time - and it never will change again, it's done. I have $10k+ in my audio account, with nothing to spend it on - time for a new car I guess.

And all this musical joy through the ultra-revealing Quads? Let your ears be the judge, don't take the PC Tweekaholics to seriously - they're perennial tweakers!!! If you think you can waste away your life on the perennial equipment chase, you ain't seen nuthin till you see the waste of life chasing down computer software tweaks - no thanks - WMP for CD's, itunes for radio surfing, I'm done - they both sound spectacular through the Quads - wide, deep, detailed, tonally beautiful with full image height - what more is there? I don't even need my tube amps any more, bass tautness and detail with all the soundstaging intact, never thought it could happen without tubes, but it did - my tubies are in the closet.
