XLR cable

I am making a cable that samples the signal. With a Rca connection the + and - are connected by two 100k resistors to get the signal. I am trying to make a XLR cable and wonder where I would attach the 100k resistors for a signal sample. I have them connected to -and+ of the XLR but fear this is not correct.
