I completely disagree with your statement of --"The cables may be decent deals for folk with low expectations - but are in no way, giant killers."-- I'm 68 and have been an audiophile since I was 10 and heard the Beatles play on Ed Sullivan on 2/64! Now my system is definitely not a huge, mega-buck audio system. But that being said, it is an amazing-sounding system that consists of:

1) $2.7K Don Sachs "Custom" Preamp.
2) $15K Mastersound Reference 845, SET amp.
3) $3.1K YBA Genesis CD4 CDP/Transport.
4) $2.7K Aurender N100H Music Server/Streamer
5) $1K Musical Paradise MP-D2 Tube DAC
6) $7K Reference 3A Taksim Speakers

With its awesome midrange that SET amps are noted for and 92dB speakers using 8" single full-range drivers and beryllium dome super tweeters attached via a single cap. It definitely punches above its weight as they say.

In my system, I replaced a $3.2K pair of NBS Professional ICs that ran from my preamp to my power amp with a pair of Odin II Gold ICs that improved upon NBS's performance in a very significant and noticeable way. Now while I won't mention the make or model of the $2.7K speaker wires I was previously using because the owner is a friend, the $150 Valhalla speakers replaced these as well also making very significant sonic improvements.

I've also replaced a Hi-Diamond 3, Stealth Audio M-21 Super, and Sablon Gran Corona power cords with the Odin II Gold power cords found on Aliexpress and all I can say is everyone who's come over to my home and heard comparisons between any of the cables listed above be they ICs, speaker wires, and/or power cords has agreed with my assessment of these literally awesome sounding Chinese "Nordost" copies. They are literally amazing at 10x and maybe even up to 15X what they cost many, many times...

Oh yes, one last thing unlike you, when I've had to return any of the cables I purchased, and one time nothing was wrong with the cable, but I decided I wanted to change from a pair of the Odin II Silver ICs to a pair of their Odin II Gold ICs they even helped me send them back for free as promised on the Aliexpress website! Not challenging at all and anything but a pain in the butt.
