Photos of said tube seem quite similar.

The internals kinda look like it could be. It could also be a 12AX7, or?Gotta get a read on that code. It will tell you definitively what the tube type is, and where and when it was made. It looks like it could be legible. I can see it in your pictures, can't make it out. But if I can kinda see it in the picture, I'm supposing it's more readable up close and personal.
If it's a Philips 12AU7/ECC82, the type code would be k6x or Gfx.
The only thing readable on the tube is a triangle on it's right side if that makes any sense (the long side is on the left at 45 degrees, second short side is vertical) and directly after that is 1J5. That's it. The stuff above that is just fragments. Impossible to make out.
It sure doesn't behave like a 12AU7 in my tester.
That triangle is a Delta symbol. That's the factory code. That means the tube was made in Heerlen Holland (Philips plant). the 1J5 then is the date code. Whatever is on the line above that is the tube type code. If you can read it it will definitely tell you what the tube is. Some times you need a really strong light and good magnifying glass to read it...and luck...
Also, some sleuthing on this site (below) might help, it has pictures and codes of tubes to compare yours to.

"You know why is that?"

Whatever is above the date code is a) barely there and b) obscured by what's left of the label.
I think I'm going to chuck it.
A 12AX7 will test like a weak 12AU7...
Too bad you can't ready the type code. As realistico says, sometimes you've just gotta try a bunch of lighting and magnification tricks to see the codes.
And as Tom is leading on to, try testing the tube as a kinda similar type. Sometimes you can home in on the type through the test behavior.
It would be too bad to through the tube away. It is a Heerlen-made, ex-Bugle Boy branded thing. It sure looks like it's a short plate 12AX7 or 12AU7 type. Both fine tubes made by Heerlen.

I've tried testing it as a 12AX7 or AU7, and it isn't even in the ballpark.
In any case, I almost fried my Cornet2 with a bad tube and I'm not taking any more chances.
Yeah, fair enough. I wouldn't/don't know where to go for further ID opportunities.
How do you like the Cornet 2?
Easily the biggest upgrade I've made so far.
