Too bad you can't ready the type code. As realistico says, sometimes you've just gotta try a bunch of lighting and magnification tricks to see the codes.
And as Tom is leading on to, try testing the tube as a kinda similar type. Sometimes you can home in on the type through the test behavior.
It would be too bad to through the tube away. It is a Heerlen-made, ex-Bugle Boy branded thing. It sure looks like it's a short plate 12AX7 or 12AU7 type. Both fine tubes made by Heerlen.

I've tried testing it as a 12AX7 or AU7, and it isn't even in the ballpark.
In any case, I almost fried my Cornet2 with a bad tube and I'm not taking any more chances.
Yeah, fair enough. I wouldn't/don't know where to go for further ID opportunities.
How do you like the Cornet 2?
Easily the biggest upgrade I've made so far.
