And, could only buy one lp, which one would it be.I'm going to a record shop and just curious what others would considered their ultimate find.
Follow Ups:
I can't complain about this weekend's vinyl hunt, see my post above.
Of course there are always Lp's one would like to have. In my neck of the woods jazz is few and far between so i'll have to do with new reissues. Classical/opera/chamber music can still be had. Classic rock in good shape: when i'm lucky. I would like to have Santana/Lotus, a 3Lp live album(Those were the days!). Some stuff on Deram(Decca): original Cream albums, John Mayall/Eric Clapton, TYA. Electric blues. I've learned to be philosophical about it, and patient. Don't spend 10 euro on a Queen LP. Just wait until you find it on a fleamarket for 1 euro.

5) ELP - 1st (UK Pink rim or Pink Island)All in M- condition of course for $1 a piece!!

And I'll be looking for Sam Rivers, Don Cherry, Art Ensemble of Chicago, and, oh, well, anything else that looks good.
Thats a tough to answer! I am still hunting for some discs that I foolishly gave up when the CD revolution took hold of my head (and faked out my heart) many years ago. I was a musical product of the punk and new wave of the 80's.. Go figure... Plenty of that to be had, but NOT usually in good shape (blame all those crappy mid 80's plastic psuedo-tables!)...However, whenever I stumble upon something that I "understand" can be good (a Shaded Dog, Phase 4, etc...) I will usually jump at it, sometimes regardless of exactly WHAT performance it is!!!
Collector's envy? OCD? I'm still not quite sure.

...the top shaded dog, Carmen/Faust Suites. There are lots on eBay in the $300-700 range.I have the Classic reissue.
I have the plum Vic, but only the Carmen side plays.
I once had a chance to buy one for $100, but it was too noisy. It sold to a Korean dealer for $125.

Forgive me for being obtuse, but what's WLP?I have "Nighthawks at the Diner" on Asylum, and it's a truly wonderful live double album, though it's not quite as good sonically as some of Wait's other LPs.

couple of awesome songs on there and some instrumental stuff, if it existed that is. I don't think it was ever released as a soundtrack recording. Or The Shining and Phantasm soundtracks. Otherwise there's not a whole lot left that i want that i don't already have. Was the Vangelis (vinyl version) soundtrack of Blade Runner ever released?

So far I can only relate to the Stones, Johnny Winter and Buffalo Springfield. I might try to track Beggar's Banquet down. Don't have that one.Couple weeks ago in the thrift I saw a couple of Johnny Winters. I passed on them. Covers a bit to rough for me.
an ultimate find would be beyond my means anyway - at least at a record store. :)so for now i would look for a copy of Coltrane's Crescent.
The last record I hunted down was the Stones, "Beggar's Banquet" , nice nice nice if you get a clean copy. Long term satisfaction from that find, good music, good sound.I'm kind of on the look out for a couple of Jonny Winter albums,(not most), but I would jump on a Buffalo Springfield with a picture of a farm tractor on the cover.
I've only seen the album once, and didn't buy it because I thought it might have been a knock off collection of better albums.
I've been to some Bay Area record stores, and haven't found it.
Good lord, why? I have it around here somewhere - my wife liked the song "Summertime Summertime" or something like that. I think she only played it once, so I don't remember it well at all, but if I recall, it's just plastic techno-dance stuff; synths and drum machines mostly.
`
Life has lots of trials and lots of music to help us through them.

Later Gator,
Crank up your talking machine, grab a jar of your favorite "kick-back", sit down, relax, and let the good times roll.Eagles may soar, but weasels do not get sucked into jet engines.

But I have (what I believe) are original copies of the first 3 Stooges LP's (s/t, Funhouse, Raw Power) all purchased around 1974. Big E, red Elektra for the 1st and butterfly for Funhouse. I got them sealed in around 1974 from a search service. Thank God they survived my big LP purge of the 90's.My copies are in pristine condition. The 1st sounds really great. Excellent recording quality for hard rock. Funhouse isn't quite as good but not bad and really rocks. Raw Power is fairly poor sound wise.
Stooges, New York Dolls & Mott the Hoople were my favorites in H.S. I loved the music but also it was nice to like an artist that almost no one else had heard of. My best friend & I were the only ones who had heard of them.
Boy, you aren't kidding. I never heard a single note by the New York Dolls until a few weeks ago.
It's like, where was this stuff all my life?
I have a CD copy of Raw Power that was given to me by a friend of mine, a copy of the 1997 remaster and the sonics are awful.
But, damn--is "Search and Destroy" a great song or what?

Got mine too, haven't read it yet though...
I've never even seen a copy.
I've just been getting into the Stooges and did a few archive searches, checked out the big E copy on Ebay. One was sold on Wednesday night. It was up to $54 with about an hour left in the auction and I stopped watching it. I think there were 15 bidders when I finally gave up.
Don't know where it closed.
I really like the sound of the Sundazed reissue. I could probably live out the rest of my days and be perfectly satisfied with it.
But I'll keep looking, of course. Nature of the vinyl beast.

You should consider getting a subscription... comes out every couple weeks with articles on any band you can think of ... no matter how obscure...
It was coincidental that I got my copy with a lengthy article about the Stooges.. past, and present... haven't completely read it, but looks very interesting..
Of all the audio magazines I get, this is far and above my favorite.
...It kicks ass!

I've got both on Sundazed. I have to say, they're the best Sundazed records I've heard, so I can imagine how good the originals must be.
