Military long frame jacks by Switchcraft or ADC used in patch panels and mount with a single screw. These are avaliable in a host of different shorting and non shorting and multiple conductor configs; JJ-024; to mate with the PJ-0 series of plugs. These are made of brass. Look at a Switchcraft catalog or go online to their website. They require much more space. Ray Hughes

Thanks, Ray. Opinion of hi quality 1/4" you suggested vs. good XLR? I will be using a balanced cable connected in non-balanced mode.

XLRs have either silver or gold plated pins (can be had up to 7pins) and the best of 1/4inch long frame military 1/4" are paladium brass. Look at Switchcraft. The only advantage is that the ground connection in a 1/4 inch is made first before the signal leads are connected in the act of pluging in. BNCs also do this and that is why they are used on test equipment. BNCs are another posibility but balanced 2 pins BNCs are very expensive. They are up there with LEMO which is the most expensive and best plug made in the world. Good luck! Ray
